Who We Are:

Here at Tree Loving Care, we are specialists in the tree care industry and on our staff we have credentialed arborists who are certified by the International Society of Arboriculture along with a trained staff of tree service employees. We understand the needs of trees and how to care for them properly. Tree Loving Care has been servicing clients and their trees in West Texas since 1978, with a wide service area from the Plains of Lubbock to the Basin of Midland and Odessa and down to the Mountains of Alpine and Fort Davis.

We offer a comprehensive list of services, from proper tree pruning, to experience in the removal of challenging trees in difficult areas, along with expert tree diagnosis & care of tree insects and diseases and everything in between.

TEXAS ARBORIST OF THE YEAR

JAMES TUTTLE CERTIFIED ARBORIST (TX0117A)

James Tuttle was in the first group of arborists to test for certification at the inception of the program, becoming one of the first Certified Arborists in the state of Texas. For the first several years of the program, he was the only one between Ft Worth and Albuquerque.

He has mentored many of the now approaching 40 Certified Arborists in West Texas. This was cited as one of the reasons he was honored in 2007 as Texas Arborist of the Year by the Texas Chapter of ISA. He has been judging the Texas Tree Climbing Championship for over 25 years and chaired the event for two years.

James served on the Texas Chapter Board of Directors for 9 years including serving as President in 2003-04. He has served on numerous other boards in the Lubbock community including Lubbock Memorial Arboretum Foundation, Keep Lubbock Beautiful and Native Plant Society of Texas/Lubbock.

This dedication to community has translated to Tree Loving Care's involvement in many projects over the years. Tree Loving Care has sponsored a tree care project for Arbor Day for over 25 years. These projects range from tree planting in several city parks to tree care at the Lubbock County Courthouse, Lubbock Children's Home and city parks for Wolfforth.

THEODORE "BUTCH" LATHEY CERTIFIED ARBORIST (TX3624A)

Theodore (Butch) Lathey has been a Certified Arborist since 2008. Butch was a General Foreman for Asplundh Tree Expert and managed their operation in most of west Texas and eastern NM before being lured to Tree Loving Care. Butch is our Production Manager and Safety Officer. That means that he manages which crew comes to give your trees TLC and makes sure they have the right equipment to do it. Butch also handles most of the sales in the Lubbock market.

Butch's wife, Joyce, (Joyce is Director of First Impressions) is the sweet voice that you first hear when you call. They have 4 children and a delightful granddaughter that is certainly the delight of their lives.

ROY DURAN CERTIFIED ARBORIST (TX3979A)

Roy has been involved in the tree industry since 2004 and certified as an arborist via The International Society of Arboriculture since 2011. Roy started his career path in 2004 with Alldredge Gardens in Midland Tx. He continued his career path and education by moving to Austin Tx in 2013. Roy worked as an Arborist in management & sales with Woodsman Tree Service for 8 yrs and as an Arborist is sales & diagnostics for 1 yr with Veterans Arbor Tech. Roy along with his wife Nora of 20 yrs and their two daughters Amber & Abby moved to Lubbock Tx in the summer of 2022. Upon arriving in Lubbock Roy joined the team at Tree Loving Care to continue to pursue his career path in Arboriculture. Roy’s role as an Arborist at Tree Loving Care is in management, sales, diagnostics and overall productivity.
